May 17, 2007

President Linda Conklin called the meeting to order at 7PM.

Present – Conklin, Febba, Watson, Snyder, House, and Librarian Slee

Absent – Perry

No Public Comment.

January minutes read silently, no additions or corrections. Febba moved and Snyder seconded that the minutes be approved. Passed 5-0

March minutes read silently, no additions or corrections. Febba moved and House seconded that the minutes be approved. Passed 5-0

Financial reports for Jan, Feb, March and April – Febba moved and Watson seconded the motion to approve pending audit. Passed 5-0

Librarian Slee reported that Woodland has accepted us a member of their Co-op as of the end of August. Discussion of Co-op and library network situation in MI. Discussion of Inter-loan and MelCat. Librarian Slee reported on the conference attended in Traverse City by over 400 MI librarians.

The Summer Reading Program Theme is "Reading is Mammoth Fun" and will run from June 18- July 31. Donations for prizes are needed. They are given out at the end of July. Board Members are encouraged to assist in getting donated prizes. Prizes for males needed.

Unfinished Business

Disaster policy – revised policy presented by Linda Conklin. Febba made a motion, which House seconded and the policy was adopted. Passed 5-0.

Personnel Policy presented by Febba to replace Policies of the Library – Snyder moved and House seconded and policy adopted 5-0.

Policies policy – Watson and Febba each submitted a policy. No support. Tabled until the next meeting per motion by Snyder seconded by Febba.

New Business

Febba moved and Snyder seconded to cover Librarian Slee’s expenses for the Traverse City conference that were not covered by the Bill Gates foundation. Passed 5-0

Febba moved and House seconded to delay any involvement with MelCat indefinitely. Passed 5-0

Thanks to Dick Slee for the beautiful wood shelving unit designed and made for the Books on Tape collection. Watson will send Dick Slee a thank you from the Board. It is a beautiful piece of furniture that matches the rest of the wood in the library.

Watson moved and House seconded the motion to adjourn. Passed 5-0 and meeting adjourned at 7:51PM
